Alumtek company has a complete line for the production of high-capacity ACSS conductors that are used in overhead transmission lines.

ACSS conductors are one of the types of high-capacity conductors and have special electrical and mechanical characteristics compared to ACSR conductors.

In these conductors, instead of using pure 1350 aluminum wire, annealed or softened aluminum wires (O-1350) are used that are twisted around a steel core.

Steel cores are protected against corrosion by coatings such as Aluminum clad alloy (aluminum coating) or Zinc-5% Aluminum mischmetal alloy metal mesh coating.

High strength steel is often used in this product as a standard.

In ACSS conductors, you can design a wide variety of layers and aluminum and steel wires.

These conductors are mainly designed as 1/6, 1/7, 12/7, 1/36, 24/7, 26/7, 30/7, 19/30, 54/7, 19/54. (The number on the right shows the number of steel strands and the number on the left shows the number of aluminum strands.)

The number and diameter of steel and aluminum strands determine the diameter and, as a result, the dimensional characteristics of the ACSS conductor.

Application

ACSS conductors are used in distribution and transmission lines where there is a need to resolve current and higher working temperature.

Features

ACSS conductors produced in Alumtec meet the requirements of ASTM B856 completely and even beyond.

Although this product is similar to ACSR conductors, it has distinct advantages for some transmission line applications:

1. Higher continuous working temperature than ACSR (200-250 degrees Celsius)

2. Carrying more current (up to twice) than ACSR

3. High fatigue resistance due to bearing very low mechanical force by annealed (soft) aluminum wires

4. Suitable for installation with the maximum permissible tension according to the standard

5. It has a minimum electrical conductivity of IACS 63% (the electrical conductivity of pure aluminum EC 1350-H19 is equal to IACS 61.2%.)

6. Reducing the height of the masts due to the reduction of the belly (Sag)

7. Lack of long-term creep factor compared to ACSR conductors

Reference standards

ACSS conductors are manufactured according to standard requirements, ASTM B609, ASTM B802, ASTM B803, ASTM B856 and ASTM B958.
